The Mon River Fleet - Providing Health Education Since 2004

In practice, Duquesne SHIP is part of the Duquesne Community Partnership, a coalition of social service providers and community stakeholders of Duquesne City, Pennsylvania. The Duquesne Community Partnership serves as a community catalyst in pursuing combined goals of community representatives, the State Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) and Communities That Care (CTC). The combined goals include:

» to promote community-based determination, prioritization and selection of health and safety improvement issues

» to promote flexibility and creativity in pursuing solutions to community health and safety problems

» promote a community empowerment strategy that emphasizes assessment and planning as the basis for program development and implementation

» prevention program that provides communities with a process to mobilize the community, identify risk and preventive factors, and develop a comprehensive prevention plan

Duquesne SHIP was state approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health in February 2004 and joined the Mon River Fleet in April 2004.
